Adapt
Learning goal: Persistence
Help your students develop persistence using the FutureFit resources collected under the “Adapt” domain. Skills highlighted in this domain include flexibility, wayfinding, and opportunity recognition.
At the practical level, Adapt focuses on skills and abilities that blend well with both core academic concepts and broader social-emotional learning goals articulated by standards organizations, states, and researchers. We’ve meshed the best and most relevant concepts and approaches into an accessible list of skills that is easy to understand and articulate to students, including:
- Flexibility: The ability to adapt to situations and circumstances both within or outside of one's locus of control
- Find your own way: The ability to clearly articulate and navigate one's own path through various situations, circumstances and scenarios
- Fail forward: The ability to learn from failure or mistakes and positively apply what is learned to new challenges
- Identify opportunities: The ability to recognize and identify opportunities for self, others and the community across various life scenarios
- Self-confidence: The ability to realistically assess, develop and articulate one's own abilities, talents, qualities and judgment
