Get Real
Learning goal: Real-world effectiveness
Help your students apply what they learn in the classroom using the FutureFit resources collected under the “Get Real” domain. Skills highlighted in this domain include leadership, reflective practice, and embracing change. At the practical level, Get real focuses on skills and abilities that blend well with both core academic concepts and broader social-emotional learning goals articulated by standards organizations, states, and researchers. We’ve meshed the best and most relevant concepts and approaches into an accessible list of skills that is easy to understand and articulate to students, including:
- Produce meaningfully: The ability to apply serious thought, energy and effort to the production of meaningful work product
- Leadership: The ability to lead others in a goal-oriented manner, helping them to grow, achieve, develop, and accomplish
- Reflective practice: The ability to regularly reflect on one's thoughts, actions and attitudes with the goal of continuous learning
- Use what you know: The ability to use and leverage ideas and knowledge from disparate domains to solve related and unrelated problems and inform others
- Embrace change: The ability to successfully and resiliently respond and adapt to unexpected changes and events
